Monkey Bread is one of those irresistible comfort foods that brings everyone to the table. Warm, gooey, and coated in cinnamon sugar, this pull-apart treat is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert. Whether you’re hosting a family gathering or just want something sweet to share, Monkey Bread is simple to make and guaranteed to impress. I’ve had my kids do this on their own (6 and 13) and it was a cinch to make.

Good for:
- Easy dessert that covers a range of ages
- Leftovers last for a while
- Kids can make this
Ingredients:
- 2 cans refrigerated cookie dough (16 oz each)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Kitchen things you’ll need:
- Bundt Pan or a square/circle deep pan
- A small saucepan for the caramel sauce
Making it:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the bundt pan generously.
- Cut dough into quarters or eights for more bit size portions.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Toss the dough pieces in the mixture until coated.
- Layer in Bundt pan, adding nuts if preferred.
- Make a caramel sauce by combining melted butter and brown sugar then pour evenly over dough pieces.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate. Serve warm and enjoy!
Tips/notes:
- Consider some flavour upgrades like adding cream cheese filling inside each dough piece for a gooey surprise, or small chunks of apple between layers for a caramel-apple vibe.
- Add chopped pecans, walnuts, or even almonds for extra texture, or sprinkle unsweetened coconut between layers for a tropical twist.
- Why not go savoury by swapping cinnamon sugar for garlic butter and shredded cheese or adding pepperoni slices and mozzarella between layers, then serve with marinara sauce.
