Peanut Butter Silk Cake

If you are like me and bless the person who figured out the chocolate/peanut butter combo into heaven, you’ll love this cake.  It’s a great option for birthdays and other major occasions with a pre-made sponge and where the creamy filling makes it the special cake everyone will talk about.  Just make sure you consider everyone’s allergies before you attempt this.

Good for:

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of yellow cake mix
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • ¼ cup butter or margarine
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 container of Creamy chocolate frosting (or try the home made version)
  • 1 cup chopped peanuts (optional)

Kitchen things you’ll need:

  • Two 8 or 9 inch round cake pans
  • Large bowl
  • 2 Medium bowls
  • Electric Mixer
  • Spatula

Making it:

  • Heat oven to 180°C (350°F), slightly lower for dark or non-stick pans.
  • Grease the bottoms of the pans with shortening or cooking spray.
  • In large bowl, beat the cake mix, water, ½ cup peanut butter, the oil and eggs with an electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds.
